College of Business Administration's Laura Rook receives national advising award

Laura Rook, College of Business Administration program manager and faculty advisor for K-State's Alpha Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi, or AKpsi, has been named the business fraternity's national Outstanding Faculty Advisor of the Year.

The award is presented to the chapter or faculty advisor who best demonstrates a positive impact on the development of AKPsi students. This person serves as a role model for the chapter through professionalism and adherence to the fraternity’s core values and guiding principles.

Rook was nominated by Margaret Haden, AKPsi regional director.

“Laura is an exemplary candidate for the Alpha Kappa Psi Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award due to her unwavering commitment and exceptional contributions to the AKPsi Alpha Omega chapter at Kansas State University," the nomination states. "Laura’s tireless efforts to maintain the chapter, her active participation in critical events, and her mentorship, all within her very first year of advising, make her deserving of the award. Her commitment has left an indelible mark on the chapter and its members, fostering a legacy of excellence and community.”

Rook said she was honored to received the national award.

“Being the chapter advisor is such a rewarding experience — I get to mentor and support our amazing students as they grow into confident professionals," she said. "Helping them get career ready and watching their development has been incredibly fulfilling. This recognition means so much, and I’m grateful to be part of their journey.”

Alpha Kappa Psi is a co-ed professional business fraternity established in 1904 and is dedicated to shaping principled business leaders. With a distinguished alumni network that includes politicians, former presidents, and prominent business figures, AKPsi has initiated over 240,000 members and boasts 265 active chapters across universities in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Hong Kong.
