K-State Mock Trial practice scrimmage Saturday
The KState Mock Trial Team will have two trials at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, in the K-State Student Union's Little Theater.
The trials are practice scrimmages between two university trial teams in preparation for their first trial competition on Oct. 26 at Drake University. The students perform all attorney and witness roles. The team's attorney coaches will serve as judges. All are welcome to sit in and watch the mock courtroom drama unfold.
The 2013-2014 case problem, published by the American Mock Trial Association, involves a criminal armed robbery. The following are excepts:
A daring armed robbery has occurred at RacheterWorld Amusement Park in Midlands.
Following the robbery, security officers chased a suspect through the park. During that chase, an attendee at the park was badly injured and is currently in critical condition at Midlands General Hospital.
The robber who was being chased through the park escaped and remains at large. Police, however, have arrested Whit Bowman, a park employee whom they believe took part in the commission of the crime. The district attorney's office says that the investigation is ongoing and that criminal charges will be forthcoming.
Come see the KSU Mock Trial Team try State v. Bowman on Saturday.
