Submitted by Frederick Burrack

Institute

The call for proposals for the Institute for Student Learning Assessment remains open until Sept. 29. The 2014 Institute for Student Learning Assessment will focus on practical classroom assessment techniques and will include workshop tracks on first-year student retention, online courses and transfer student issues. The institute itself is Nov. 14 at Kansas State University.

Registration is free for K-Staters but there is a cost for the meal. You may attend any part or the entire of the event.

The keynote address is "Authentic Assessment of Online Learning" by Melissa Mallon, assistant professor and coordinator for library instruction, Wichita State University, and Megan Mallon, lead technology teacher and preservice teacher supervisor, Manhattan. This will be followed by a hands-on workshop to apply technology-based assessment. Participants in the workshop should bring laptops.
