National Science Foundation CAREER award information session offered
The National Science Foundation's Faculty Early Career Development, or CAREER, Program is a foundationwide activity that offers NSF's most prestigious awards in support of junior faculty who exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through excellent research and the integration of education with that research. To be eligible for this program, faculty must be in a tenure-track position and remain untenured until Oct. 1 following the CAREER deadline — typically mid-July.
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is hosting an information session for the CAREER program at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, in the Alumni Center's Purple Pride Room. This session will start with a background presentation regarding the requirements for submission given by ZJ Pei, a program director at NSF. His presentation will be followed by a panel of previous K-State CAREER awardees. They will discuss their experience in submitting to this program and what this award has meant for their career. Both recent and longer-term awardees will be included on the panel, which should make for a lively discussion about this important program.
