Save the date for annual Spring Teaching Workshop Friday, Feb. 5, 2016
Register by Jan. 22 for The Annual Faculty Exchange for Teaching Excellence, or FETE, Workshop Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, featuring speaker Jean Twenge, a psychologist and professor at San Diego State University.
Twenge is author of "Generation Me," and co-author of "The Narcissism Epidemic: Living in the Age of Entitlement." She will be speaking about her research using data from 11 million respondents indicating how "Gen Me-ers" choose to live life and how these behaviors influence our interactions with them in and out of the classroom.
Twenge is an engaging, informed speaker who uses real-life stories to vividly illustrate this generation of learners. The workshop will include several K-State students responding to Twenge and her book, and K-State faculty members who will share vignettes of their experiences teaching, "Gen me-ers." Twenge will offer ideas on how to achieve positive results.
The agenda has been designed for all day participation or a morning or afternoon as your schedule allows. Graduate students are encouraged to participate as well. There is a lunch option when you register if you are able to make the full day or perhaps join for a lunch conversation. A cash bar and light snacks will be offered after the presentation at 4:30 p.m. The workshop will be in the K-State Alumni Center. Both books are available for purchase at the K-State Student Union Bookstore.
