Highlights from Sept. 5 Classified Senate meeting
A draft of the meeting minutes is available on the Classified Senate website. Here are some highlights from the meeting:
Information was released by the Joint Committee on employee pay plan oversight regarding market adjustments for this fiscal year. According to Gary Leitnaker, 92 employees at K-State would be affected by the market adjustments recommended by the committee. The recommendations still have to be approved by the State Finance Council.
Campus Affairs Committee continues to work on revamping the Classified Senate website. The committee is also in charge of the Classified Senate booth at the Benefits Fair, which will be Oct. 4. The item selected for the giveaway to be offered at the booth has been ordered.
Legislative Affairs Committee finalized plans for the K-State position paper to be taken to the CSSC meeting at Pittsburg State University Sept. 21. The position paper was approved by the Senate as a whole.
Public Relations Committee reported that the Twitter and Facebook accounts have not been established yet.
Classified employee members of the Peer Review Committee have been focusing on the need for required supervisory training for faculty and unclassified employees the same as it is required for classified employees. It was discovered that a Learning and Development Advisory Committee has been set up on campus, which would examine the issue of supervisory training as one of its responsibilities, and Jami Clark is a classified employee on that committee.
