Essential campus services information
The university has drastically reduced operations on campus to reduce exposure to the COVID-19 virus. With reduced staffing available in the Division of Facilities, Environmental Health and Safety, and Campus Police, it is necessary to reduce the campus footprint that requires these essential services. Following is information related to revised processes to close buildings, issue external building keys and distribute mail and deliveries.
Campus buildings will be open for essential business through Friday, March 20. Daily activity in each building will be reviewed and executive administration will determine whether the building shall remain open during the limited operation period. Building statuses will be communicated to campus by March 23. In the meantime, employees who can be working remotely should be doing so.
External door keys will only be issued to faculty and staff who have been deemed by the provost or vice presidents as essential to be physically on campus and do not currently have them. The authorized personnel should complete the fillable key request form available on the Division of Facilities website. Fill in the "Approved" signature line with "electronic signature by <name, date>". Email the completed form to keycontrol@ksu.edu. The requestor will receive an email when the key is ready to pick up in Dykstra Hall.
Mail will not be collected from and distributed to campus buildings during the limited operation period. Beginning March 23, departments may pick up and drop off outgoing mail at the Mail Center in Dykstra Hall between 2-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Departments should complete the mail delivery requirements form available on the Division of Facilities website to designate staff authorized to pick up mail. Departments should postpone non-essential deliveries to campus. If deliveries are essential, departments will need to coordinate to provide access into buildings.
All individuals entering university buildings should follow CDC guidelines. Continue monitoring the K-State COVID-19 website for updated information and guidance. We appreciate your cooperation during these unprecedented times.
