Ravi Kumar to present Anatomy and Physiology Seminar
M.N.V. Ravi Kumar, professor of biological sciences at the College of Community Health Sciences at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, will present "The next generation of oral drug delivery technologies" at the next Anatomy and Physiology seminar at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, via Zoom.
Kumar was an assistant professor from 2003-2007 at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Mohali, India; professor of drug delivery from 2008-2013 at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow-UK; and professor of pharmaceutical sciences at Texas A&M University, College Station from 2013-2021. He has trained over 50 researchers, including seven doctoral students, with one a medical student; 15 postdocs; and 20 Master of Science students.
Kumar’s research has won him several awards, including the Distinguished Scientist Award of International Journal of Nanomedicine; Controlled Release Society’s T. Nagai Outstanding Researcher Advisor in recognition of excellent leadership and mentorship; British Pharmaceutical Conference Science Medal; Tom Gibson Memorial Award by British Society of Plastic Surgeons & the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons; and Indian National Science Academy Medal for Young Scientists. He is elected a fellow of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and foreign fellow of the European Academy of Sciences. Three National Institutes of Health research project grants fund Kumar’s lab.
