Subramony to present 'How to Better Engage Students in Our Online Courses'
Submitted by Ashley A. Schiffer
Deepak Subramony, professor in the College of Education, will present "How to Better Engage Students in Our Online Courses" from noon to 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 5, via Zoom. The presentation is part of the Teaching and Learning Center's Professional Development Series.
Subramony's event abstract is: The COVID-19 pandemic forced us to become prepared to deliver appropriate instruction and foster meaningful learning across a variety of settings and modalities and to quickly pivot between settings/modalities at short notice if circumstances warranted it. As we learn to live and work with the SARS-CoV-2 virus in our midst, the issue of being able to effectively engage our students in distance and online settings has become increasingly foregrounded. This session draws from scholarly literature, best practices and the collective wisdom of Subramony's community of practice at the K-State College of Education to discuss how to better engage students in our online courses. Join Subramony to explore this issue in greater depth/detail, and to obtain workable ideas on how to engage students more effectively within your own blended/online courses. Following the presentation, Subramony will engage the audience by asking you to share your own experiences and perceptions regarding effective online student engagement.
