Scholar Development and Undergraduate Research to host conversation and celebration hour
The Scholar Development and Undergraduate Research unit, or SDUR, in the Staley School of Leadership, is celebrating its inaugural year and thanking partners for their support of undergraduate researchers or scholarship applicants.
The campus community is invited to join our staff and special guest, Jane Coyle Morris of the University of Pennsylvania, for a Community Conversation and Celebration Hour.
Appetizers will be served from 4:30-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, in the lobby of the Leadership Studies Building.
Please RSVP by Wednesday, Feb. 28.
Incorporating the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry, SDUR has expanded to include Nationally Competitive Scholarships and the McNair Scholars Program to its preexisting catalog of opportunities. With this event, we want to celebrate our partners' past involvement with OURCI and continue to collaborate with the university community as we chart a path forward as SDUR.
At 4:45 p.m., welcoming remarks will be given by Beth Powers, director of SDUR, and Mary Tolar, dean of the Staley School of Leadership. We will then hear from our esteemed guest, Jane Morris, regarding current undergraduate research trends and practices at 5 p.m.
Morris serves as executive director of the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships at the University of Pennsylvania and is an experienced research scientist and leader, directing units akin to SDUR at Duke, Villanova and now UPenn. Surrounding the presentation, guests are welcome to enjoy networking with other colleagues who contribute to undergraduate research and scholar development efforts.
Anyone who has engaged with or is interested in becoming involved with undergraduate research or nationally competitive scholarships is highly encouraged to participate in this reception.
Thank you for your continued support of SDUR and our students.
