Maria Beebe retiring from K-State after 26 years

Submitted by Office of International Programs

After 26 years with K-State, Maria Beebe is retiring from her position as associate director of International Student and Scholar Services, a unit in the Office of International Programs.

Beebe started working part time at K-State in 1998 at New Student Services. In 1999, she began her master's degree and worked as a graduate assistant for the Office of International Programs and has since remained a valued member of the team.

Beebe has been very active in NAFSA: Association of International Educators in roles ranging from conference planner for the region and culminated with holding the regional chair position.

"Maria has been a great asset to the university working with international scholars and faculty," said Sara Thurston, director of International Student and Scholar Services. "She has helped departments bring the brightest and most talented international employees to the university."

Being active and involved on campus over the years has been rewarding and even fun for Beebe — especially serving on the Movies on the Grass and the K-State Book Network selection committees.

Serving on Faculty Senate and as co-chair of the Professional Staff Affairs Committee provided enjoyment as well as the opportunity to learn about the intricacies of the university. Beebe could often be seen walking across campus to various meetings and interacting with others along the way, something that she dearly misses post-COVID-19.

Beebe's dedication to internationalize K-State will be missed by all and we thank her for the years of service she has given the Office of International Programs units. An online Kudoboard has been set up so that you can extend your best wishes for Beebe's next adventure.

Join us in celebrating Beebe.
