8 ways everyone can recharge this Wildcat Pause Day
Wildcat Pause Day isn't about stopping all productivity — it's about finding balance. The day encourages you to take intentional steps to reduce stress, refocus your energy and maintain good health. Whether it's finishing up a project, enjoying a walk across campus or taking a moment to reflect, there's something for everyone.
Faculty and staff: We understand your schedules are busy. Please work with your supervisor to determine how best to utilize Wildcat Pause Day within your role.
Here are some ideas for how the entire campus community can incorporate healthy behaviors into your day:
1. Unplug from digital overload
While you might not be able to completely disconnect from work or studies, try silencing unnecessary notifications, even for just an hour. Use this time to mentally reset, organize your thoughts and focus on a task without distraction.
2. Move your body
Just 20 minutes of movement is a great way to recharge your energy and can be a huge mood booster. Take a campus well-being walk with First Lady Linton or join a fitness class such as Zumba in the Courtyard. The Rec is free all week for faculty and staff!
3. Try something new
Step outside of your comfort zone. Express your creative side at Fall Fest or get a free personal training assessment. Breaking from routine can provide a fresh perspective and a renewed sense of energy.
4. Manage your schedule proactively
Take charge of your time by planning a day with fewer distractions and no meetings. If meetings are unavoidable, turn them into walking meetings. Work on some of your favorite things to do in your role. Or, use this day to catch up on projects, reorganize your workspace and check off smaller tasks that might have been piling up.
5. Reconnect with nature
Have lunch outside and enjoy the beautiful fall weather. Visit the K-State Gardens or take a walk around the Konza Prairie. Manhattan is filled with outdoor spaces to help reset your mind and body.
6. Practice mindfulness
Focus on being present and take a pause with CAPS. Relax and reflect through yoga on the plaza. Spread the message of well-being across campus through notes of encouragement and gratitude.
7. Connect with others
Connect with a colleague that you don't often see. Grab some friends for free bowling in the Union or enjoy a free showing of the movie "Inside Out 2" with your family. Spend meaningful time with others.
8. Rest and recharge your way
Sometimes, the best way to care for yourself is simply to slow down and rest. Allow yourself to take breaks that help restore your energy and focus.

By incorporating small, healthy habits into your normal routine, you embody our next-gen values and support a healthier, more connected campus.
