We need companions on the journey
We cannot make the journey through grief alone. We need the support of family members, friends, neighbors, and even strangers to serve as listeners who help us make sense of the experience and give us their strength. We have fallen and we need a hand to rise. We want someone to listen and care, not interfere.
As we talk with this caring person and share our stories, we begin to put our loss into perspective. We need someone who can set aside his or her own concerns and can accept our deepest emotions and fears.
