Self-respect is more action than attitude
Self-respect depends not on facts and achievements themselves but rather what we do with them. Working hard at school leads to self-respect, not the achievement of the degree. Bringing my professional skills to the university and doing my best to apply them contributes to self-respect, not just being in the position. Making a home for a child contributes more to self-respect than becoming a parent.
