The opinions of others
Now that you have your own definition of self-respect, find out what others think. Choose someone you know to be your learning partner. This person could be a spouse or close friend. Ideally, your learning partner might be someone who is also taking this course so you can both serve as mutual partners. Approach this individual and describe the course and ask if she is willing to visit with you occasionally to talk about issues related to course content. Information and insight gained by interacting with the partner should be entered into your journal.

journal logoAsk your learning partner to describe what she thinks self-respect means. Does your partner view self-respect as different from self-esteem? You might also ask others you know the same questions. Record what you learn in your journal.
