Accept what cannot be changed
Lord grant me the patience to accept the things I cannot change….

This is the first critical step in achieving self-respect—to accept those aspects of ourselves that we cannot change and to be at peace with the reality of who we truly are. The first step in promoting self-respect in ourselves and in our children is to accept what cannot be changed. Not only accept, though, but to celebrate all that we and our children have to offer life.
