There is nothing necessarily wrong with encouraging children to succeed. If this pressure is relentless, though, children may associate parental approval with success. They may become afraid of failing and driven to succeed at all costs in order to win their parent's love and admiration. When they fail, they may feel as though they have disappointed their parents.
