Focus
on their enthusiasm
Keep in mind two points. First, the important issue here is to
focus on the fact that children are excited about what their future
holds, not the specifics of what they think they want to do. The
dream may seem unrealistic (“I’m going to be an astronomer!”)
or lack prestige (“I’m going to be a garbage man!”)
from an adult's perspective. If so, children will learn as they
grow up to recreate an alternative vision for themselves as long
as they continue to have hope and confidence.
