Three
forms of “dream destruction”
I think there are at least three forms of dream destruction. The
first involves a direct assault through some form of mockery. The
adult demeans and ridicules the child’s aspiration for being
silly or claims the child is incapable of reaching the goal. The
adult may say something like, “You, the president? Don’t
make me laugh!” What effect does this have on a child?
