Three forms of “dream destruction”
I think there are at least three forms of dream destruction. The first involves a direct assault through some form of mockery. The adult demeans and ridicules the child’s aspiration for being silly or claims the child is incapable of reaching the goal. The adult may say something like, “You, the president? Don’t make me laugh!” What effect does this have on a child?
