Tool
#34. Remove child from situations he or she cannot handle
Definition:
Gently remove children who are losing self-control in a difficult situation.
Fritz Redl calls this antiseptic bouncing.
Examples:
Father
hears his two preschoolers arguing. He tells the older child to help him
make dinner.
A
second grade child is being mercilessly teased by other children for the
costume he has on at a halloween party. He begins screaming and grabbing
toys from the other children. The supervising parent takes him to another
room to play computer games. She asks her teenager to show him how to begin. |
