go to Action lesson 1go to Action lesson 2Go to Action lesson 3Go to Action lesson 4Go to Action lesson 5

Key ideas
1. Learn about the courageous behavior of others in their family and community.

Activity
Distribute the Courage and Fear Interview form. You may want to retype the information to format it properly to fit on two pages.

Examine the form and talk with the children about finding someone to interview. If there is any concern about this, encourage children to choose adults who work at the school as interview subjects (check with them first). Discuss with children how to give a good interview. Emphasize that some people feel very embarrassed about their courage and want to keep it private. Discuss what confidential means.

This activity is an "on your honor" activity. They will not turn in their papers nor will they give a report in class. All they have to do is tell you when they have conducted the interview and you can check their name off your class list. Make sure they understand that if there are any problems in the interview that they can come to you.
