Bailey is keynote speaker at Active Aging Expo
Sally Bailey, professor of theatre in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, is the keynote speaker for the East Central Kansas Active Aging Expo May 2 in Ottawa.
The expo promotes positive attitudes about aging and educates older Kansans and caregivers on issues that support physical, mental and financial health. The expo is produced by K-State Research and Extension.
Bailey's keynote, "The Arts of Creative Aging," will focus on the evidence-based research showing how drama, dance, visual art, music, poetry and other forms of literature contribute to healthy aging. Bailey is a member of the gerontology faculty and the Advisory Board for PEAK 2.0. She has worked with the Indiana Expressive Arts in Long Term Care which trained staff and administrators in how to bring the arts into long-term care facilities to enhance activities programming and improve resident engagement.
