Science on Tap to discuss 'What does farm to table really mean?'

Submitted by Michi Tobler

August's Science on Tap features Diana Valencia, doctoral student in the College of Veterinary Medicine at K-State, who will discuss "What does farm to table really mean?"

Science on Tap is held in a relaxed setting and features a brief, informal presentation by a K-State scientist followed by lively conversation and a Q&A period. The goal is to build the community's enthusiasm for science in a fun and unique way.

The free, interactive program begins 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Tallgrass Tap House, 320 Poyntz Ave. Be sure to let the Tap House staff know you are there for Science on Tap.

Valencia will discuss what is really going into the food we feed our families, even if it is not addressed on the label — think hormones, antibiotics or organic. Valencia will address food label claims, current misperceptions and discussing the farm to fork pathway for beef production in the United States.

Other Science on Tap events this fall will be on Sept. 18, Oct. 16, Nov. 13 and Dec. 11.
