New prevention specialist joins CARE
Welcome back, Wildcats. The Center for Advocacy, Response and Education, or CARE, welcomes Jessica Henault, K-State's first sexual and relationship violence prevention specialist.
Henault is a second-year graduate student in the College of Education's counseling and student development master's program. She will graduate in December 2019 with her degree along with an academic advising graduate certificate.
Before accepting her CARE role, Henault served as the graduate research assistant for NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising. She also served as the graduate research assistant for the Academic Achievement Center during her first year of graduate school and completed a practicum experience within CARE last year. Henault earned a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from Washburn University and worked within the First-Year Experience Program, the Center for Student Success and Retention, the Bonner Scholar Program, and opened a local Topeka nonprofit titled the Beginning to End Program.
Henault is looking forward to engaging with students, faculty, and other student affairs professionals to create a culture of consent on campus. Henault's responsibilities include managing prevention education on sexual and relationship violence for all K-State community members. She will oversee Wildcats Make a Pact, which is K-State's bystander intervention program, and develop additional educational planning. She will represent CARE and continue developing partnerships with departments and services across K-State and the broader community. Additionally, she will assist in the development of a campuswide sexual and relationship violence prevention plan. Henault is a big proponent of creating healthy boundaries and adopting a work-life balance, in her free time you will find her snuggled up with one of her four cats, attending her local yoga studio in Junction City, diving into a Netflix documentary, or spending time with her partner, parents and brother.
