Professor Narayana Kocherlakota to deliver Joe Tiao Lecture on Economic Issues

Submitted by Courtney Rausch

The College of Arts and Sciences' economics department welcomes Narayana Kocherlakota, professor of economics at the University of Rochester and research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, for the fall edition of the Joe Tiao Lecture at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, in Regnier Forum.

The title of Kocherlakota's talk is "Unpacking the Last Two Economic Recoveries." All faculty, staff, students and members of the community are welcome to attend this event.

Kocherlakota, the Lionel W. McKenzie professor of economics at the University of Rochester, has served as the chair of the department of economics since 2021 and is also a professor at the Simon School of Business in the same institution. He has taught at the University of Rochester since 2016. In addition, Kocherlakota served as president and chief executive officer in the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis from 2009 to 2015. He taught previously in the economics department at the University of Minnesota from 2005 to 2010 and was a professor of economics at Stanford University from 2002 to 2005. He has also held faculty positions at Northwestern University and the University of Iowa. He holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Chicago.

The Joe Tiao Lecture Series, initiated in 2006, enables the College of Arts and Sciences' economics department to bring two internationally acclaimed economists to campus each year. Each Tiao Lecturer presents two lectures at K-State: a public lecture on an economics issue of current interest and a more technical seminar in the department.
