K-State Research and Extension local food systems team to host statewide local foods virtual town hall

Submitted by Londa Nwadike

The Kansas State Research and Extension Local Foods Transdisciplinary Team will host a statewide local foods system virtual town hall from 11 a.m. to noon. Wednesday, Oct. 27.

The goal of the meeting is for people working in the area of local food systems across Kansas to be able to share the various things that are being done related to local food systems so that we all can work together better to strengthen local food systems in Kansas.

The team is inviting a number of partners that work at the state level to attend the town hall, but interested K-State faculty and staff are also welcome to join.

The agenda for the first virtual town hall includes the following:

  • Five-minute presentations by selected state organizations working in local food systems — including the Kansas Healthy Foods Initiative, Kansas Department of Education-Farm to School program, KSRE and others— on their current efforts related to local food systems.
  • Update on the status of the USDA Regional Food Systems Program grant that KSRE submitted in July 2021 and next steps.
  • Brief announcements of upcoming relevant local food systems events in Kansas that will be occurring in the next few months.

Please contact Londa Nwadike at lnwadike@k-state.edu if you would like more information or if you would like the Zoom link to join the session. Thanks for your interest.
