Vernon Larson Lecture panel: Learn about the internationalization of higher education

Submitted by Grant Chapman

Come hear a panel of expert Ecuadorian faculty members present the 2021 Vernon Larson Lecture, "Internationalization of Higher Education: Internationalization Standards and Our Experiences Within an Ecuadoran University," as part of International Education Week from 2:30-4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, in 21 Bluemont Hall.

The panelists will share their knowledge and experience on internationalization standards in higher education. The panel is moderated by Grant Chapman, associate provost for international programs. This fits within K-State's #IEW2021 two-week celebration of international education in the U.S. and around the world.

The expert panelists are faculty members from the Universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabí, or ULEAM, in Ecuador. They are participating in a special program through Kansas State University's College of Education in cooperation with the English Language Program of the Office of International Programs this semester. This is part of a comprehensive internationalization project for ULEAM.

Vernon Carl Larson was an international visionary who built K-State's international agriculture programs through projects in Nigeria, India, the Philippines and elsewhere throughout the world. He then led the Office of International Programs through 25 plus years of successful growth and expansion.

"The Larson Lecture Series is the longest continuous running lecture series at K-State," Chapman said. "Vernon Larson built the international agricultural programs and founded the general international programs advancing internationalization at K-State. Furthermore, Vernon Larson was community and civic-minded, sharing the world with Manhattan, Kansas and sharing K-State and Manhattan with the world."

If you cannot attend in person, please join this live event through Zoom.
