Business of Sports & Entertainment Speaker Series: Kathy Nelson, Kansas City Sports Commission
The Business of Sports & Entertainment Speaker Series will feature Kathy Nelson, president and CEO of the Kansas City Sports Commission, at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 16 in the Business Building Lecture Hall, BB1088.
Nelson and her team have attracted a number of high-profile events to Kansas City, including NCAA, Big 12 and national championships. Nelson participated in the bid that will bring the 2023 NFL Draft to Kansas City and is currently involved in the effort to secure a game in Kansas City during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Among many honors, the Kansas City Star recently named Nelson as one of the 50 Most Influential People in Kansas City Sports History.
The speaker series is organized by Doug Walker and supports the Business of Sports & Entertainment certificate program, and is part of the curriculum for the MKTG630 Sports Marketing and the MKTG625 Entertainment Marketing classes.
