Johnson Cancer Research Center spring award applications due March 1

Submitted by Marcia Locke

The Johnson Cancer Research Center is accepting applications for its spring semester awards for faculty and students. Information and applications are on the center's Award Programs webpage. Applications are due March 1.

The center supports the innovative and collaborative cancer-related research of its faculty members in 20 departments across five colleges, as well as the training of undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

The center's faculty members are eligible to apply for awards and sponsor applications of their students. K-State faculty who do cancer-relevant research but are not members of the center are invited to apply for membership by contacting the center's director, Sherry Fleming, professor of biology, at sdflemin@k-state.edu.

Several awards are being offered for faculty this spring. Innovative Research Awards provide seed money to gather preliminary data for major grant proposals. The Cancer Research Collaboration of Excellence Award supports an integrated, multi-project research program that has a well-defined, central focus on cancer. Award Planning Grants are available. Faculty may also apply for equipment and travel awards. Details are on the Faculty Award Programs page.

Graduate students are eligible for research and travel awards. Applications must be submitted by faculty mentors. Details are on the Student Award Programs page.

The Johnson Cancer Research Center, a department of the College of Arts and Sciences, supports and advances cancer research, education, training and public outreach. Its awards are funded by private donations.
