Weekly global religious, spiritual and nonreligious observance information

The President's Committee on Religion, Spirituality and Nonreligious Diversity presents the global observance information for Oct. 2 to Oct. 8. 

Shemini Atzeret Friday, Oct. 6, to Sunday, Oct. 8. Tradition: Judaism. 

Simchat Torah, Rejoicing of the Law, Saturday, Oct 7. Tradition: Judaism. Joyous festival in which the annual cycle of the reading of the Torah in the synagogue is completed and its first book is begun again. The celebration typically includes singing, dancing and marching with Torah scrolls.

The President's Committee on Religious, Spiritual and Nonreligious Diversity welcomes those of all global religious, spiritual and nonreligious commitments.
