Celebrate Hinamatsuri, a Japanese holiday

Submitted by Yasmin D. Gavigan

The modern languages department invites faculty, staff, students and the general community to join a celebration of the Japanese holiday Hinamatsuri, also known as Girl's Day/Doll's Day, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m today, March 5, in the Kirmser Language Center, Room 1 of Eisenhower Hall.

The annual festival in Japan is celebrated on March 3 to wish for the healthy growth, prosperity and happiness of girls.

At the modern languages department, we embrace and celebrate the cultures of the languages we offer. Come and learn about this celebration and Japanese culture through a cultural presentation, games and prizes, and origami, and enjoy some Japanese candy while supporting the modern languages' community.
