Volunteers needed for brain blood vessel research in cancer survivors

Submitted by Britton Scheuermann

A clinical research team at Kansas State University under the direction of Carl Ade is recruiting participants for a study investigating the health of central and brain blood vessels in cancer survivors.

Qualified participants who are above the age of 21, have been diagnosed with cancer in the past 15 years and do not have current cerebral or pulmonary disease may be eligible to enroll.

Volunteers will be asked to come to the third floor of the Stormont Vail Health Manhattan Campus on two separate occasions. Noninvasive ultrasound images around the neck and in the brain will be collected, and the volunteers will be asked to breathe in and out of a 5-liter bag for about two minutes while images of the small blood vessels in the front of the brain are taken. By participating, you will help researchers determine overall arterial health and the state of brain blood vessel health in cancer survivorship.
