Use of Office Equipment
The following statements are intended to outline general policy concerning the use of various office assets. There may be some special circumstances that would require Supervisors judgment in determining to allow or disallow.
Telephones
No personal long distance calls are permitted to be charged to the Office of the Registrar. Telephone usage for personal local calls is permitted. However, it is expected that these calls will be made on non-work time, such as on break time or lunch hours. If an employee expects incoming calls, attempts should be made to have them come at non-duty time.
Computers
Computers may be used on non-duty hours while the office is open. The use of personal software on the office computers and the use of E-mail or the Internet to relay personal messages is not allowed.
Printers
- Black/White printers: B/W Printers may be used for personal work during non-duty hours when the office is open; the employee should provide her/his own paper.
- Color printer: The color printer is to be used for approved Office of the Registrar functions (i.e. SIS production job requests, training materials, operation manuals, operation manuals, administrator approved special projects) and is not available for personal use.
All classified and unclassified employees will have the color printer as a print option on their computers; B/W printers will be the default printer option.
Only administrator approved student employee workstations (i.e. LAN SE workstations) will have the color printer as a print option; B/W printers will be the default printer option.
Copiers
Office copy machines may not be used for personal copying. If personal copies are needed contact the appropriate Supervisor.
Fax Machine
May not be used for personal use.
Employees
This is a reminder that each employee is an asset of this office and is expected to provide at least 7.33 hours of productive work each day. Therefore, any personal business must be scheduled on break times (up to 20 minutes) or lunch hours.
Students are expected to be actively working throughout their time in the office. No personal business is to be done on work time. Breaks are appropriate only when student employees are working a full 4-hour continuous block of time.
