NACADA welcomes Zoranna Jones to executive office
Zoranna Jones has joined the executive office of NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising as the director of strategic initiatives. Jones will oversee NACADA Consulting and guide the association's three divisions.
Jones is an accomplished academic leader and educator with a distinguished career in higher education, having served most recently as the assistant dean of student support at the College of Science and Engineering at Texas Christian University. Her experience as an administrator and deep knowledge of NACADA will be of immediate advantage to the association's objectives.
"I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Jones to the executive office as I had the privilege to observe her deft leadership as president of the NACADA board of directors last year," said Kyle Ross, NACADA executive director. "She is the ideal person for this position because Dr. Jones has the unique capabilities to not only conceptualize sweeping initiatives but to bring them to life."
Ross cited one of Jones' most notable accomplishments — the creation of the award-winning STEM Scholar Program at TCU. This groundbreaking initiative established both an academic program and a scholarship designed to support high-achieving, underrepresented students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM.
Jones is an active member of several organizations, including the Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education, the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
In addition to serving as president of the NACADA board of directors, Jones served as president of the TCU Black Alumni Alliance. Her commitment to service extends to mentoring youth through Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Jones holds a doctorate in public and urban administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, a master's in communication in human relations from Texas Christian University, and a bachelor's degree in nursing, also from TCU.
NACADA is hosted by Kansas State University's College of Education.
