Volunteer friendship families opportunity for K-Staters

Submitted by Leena Chakrabarti

From March 2-16, the English Language Program at Kansas State University will host a group of English teachers from around the world for an exchange program. While at K-State, the participants will study English and learn about how to teach English language classrooms. A requirement of this program is to have the teachers interact with American families in the host community.

With this in mind, the English Language Program is looking for families and community members willing to invite two to three exchange participants to spend time together either in their home or doing an activity in the community. The host/friendship families will be invited to a welcome dinner on March 2 to meet with their assigned participants. They will have the chance to invite their participants to spend another time sharing a meal and doing an activity together with them the next weekend, March 8-9. Friendship families will also be invited to the closing ceremony on Friday, March 14, in the afternoon. This is optional.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please email Katie Barkley at kabarkley@k-state.edu.
