Dennis Devenney

Dennis A. Devenney, director of IT and the Catalyst, Technology Center, in the College of Education, was recognized as Professional Staff of the Week at the Feb. 22 women's home basketball game. Faculty Senate, the Office of the President and K-State Athletics wish to recognize his contributions to K-State.

Devenney has served the College of Education for 31 years in the area of instructional technology. His expertise and leadership in IT include managing 12 student staff and five full time employees. Over the years, he has managed and trained more than 350 student staff members. Devenney also conducts training sessions and technical support for the faculty and staff in the College of Education. Some of his responsibilities require managing and coordinating the use of technology in the high-tech classroom and the Catalyst media and technology center, which he helped design and construct. Also, he assists faculty, staff and students in the use of technology hardware and software. He provides outstanding service to faculty and staff, on and off campus, with technology assistance.

As the director of IT in the College of Education, Devenney's commitment to effective technology use extends beyond the university to school districts, making sure administrators, teachers, and staff understand changes in IT, which impacts K-12 teaching and learning.

Devenney receives special recognition in advancing the Catalyst Center with innovative state-of-the-art instructional technologies for faculty, staff and students. He designs professional development for faculty to incorporate content specific technologies into classroom instruction. Through his leadership, students receive unparalleled support for technologies both in the classroom and the Catalyst Center. He is committed to providing a future forward approach to instructional technology in the College of Education.

The Professional Staff of the Week recognition is coordinated by Faculty Senate, the President's office and K-State Athletics. Recipients are staff members selected by Faculty Senate caucuses. Those selected are provided tickets to a men's or women's home basketball game of their choosing and are recognized during halftime. This is just a small token of appreciation for those who work at K-State.
