Architecture professor conducts workshop, presents poster at national teaching conference
Mick Charney, associate professor of architecture, conducted a workshop, "Higher Learning Meets Cognitive Surplus: Cloaking Naked Teaching with the Skills of Digital Natives," at the 2013 Lilly Conference on College and University Teaching and Learning, Oct. 17-20, in Traverse City, Mich.
He also presented the poster "The Stream of All Human Consciousness: Designing Social Networking Projects that Teach," for which he won the Lorrie Ryan Memorial Outstanding Poster Award. Posters were judged on the basis of four criteria: innovation directly impacting student learning, research and theory upon which the concept is based, applicability across disciplines, and visual presentation. The award includes a certificate, a crystal sculpture and a $200 credit voucher to be used toward the 2014 Lilly Conference registration fee along with a similar voucher for a guest who has never before attended a Lilly Conference.
