K-State Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony perform tonight
The K-State Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony will present a special performance at 7:30 p.m. tonight in McCain Auditorium.
The Wind Ensemble will perform the works of Spaniola, LoPresti and Schelle. Featured in the Wind Ensemble's portion of the concert is composer Michael Schelle's award winning "End of the World." Schelle is a guest composer with the bands this week and is the winner of the 2012 Revelli Composition Prize among many other honors.
The K-State Wind Symphony opens the concert and will perform works by Spaniola, Claude T. Smith and Joaquin Turina. Featured will be guest faculty saxophone soloist Anna Marie Wytko, performing "Fantasia for Alto Saxophone and Winds" by Claude T. Smith. Both bands will finish the concert together with Alfred Reed's powerful "Russian Christmas Music."
The K-State Wind Ensemble is directed by Frank Tracz and the Wind Symphony is directed by Don Linn. This concert is open to all and admission is free.
