Evironmental health and safety is offering hazard communication training
In 2012 the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, changed a long-standing regulation concerning chemicals in the work place. This past year the Campus Environmental Health and Safety Committee approved a new hazard communication program that includes changes made in 2012 by OSHA.
To improve compliance with the new regulation, the department of environmental health and safety is offering training in the new regulation. Training for the Globally Harmonized System of Chemical Classification and Labeling must be provided to all employees who work with chemicals.
Sessions offered through February are as follows:
- Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 11 a.m.
- Friday, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m.
- Monday, Feb. 10 at 9 a.m.
- Thursday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m.
- Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 1 p.m.
Training will be provided in 011 Edwards Hall in one-hour sessions. Register for training through HRIS Self_Enrollment or email training@k-state.edu and include your name, department, employee ID number, course title, number — WTD162 — and date desired.
In addition, environmental health and safety will train individual departments upon request. Contact environmental health and safety at 785-532-5856 or safety@k-state.edu.
