University Budget Advisory Committee reviewing processes, beginning action plan

The University Budget Advisory Committee, appointed last fall by President Kirk Schulz and chaired by Provost and Senior Vice President April Mason, has met three times. Committee work to date has included:
- Review of the university’s current budget processes and calendar
- Discussion of prioritization methods and evaluation of a proposed three-year rolling budget model
- Discussion of a budgetary structure to help guide and determine major capital projects in the future
- Discussion of the need to align the universitywide budget with K-State 2025 initiatives and priorities
- Discussion of the need to build a broader understanding of the university budget and ways to reach out to the K-State community
- Review of the Tuition Strategies Committee’s process for recommending tuition and fees
- Review of the governor’s FY 2015 budget recommendations and potential effect on K-State
- Identification of processes which need development for future budget transparency
- Review of an initial draft committee action plan and time line
