The K-State Chamber Winds, Concert Band and University Bands perform tonight

The K-State Chamber Winds, Concert Band and University Bands will present a special performance tonight at 7:30 p.m. in McCain Auditorium. Admission is free.

The K-State Chamber Winds is a woodwind octet made up of the finest student musicians on campus. They will perform a work by Beethoven. The Concert Band is one of three auditioned ensembles at K-State. The band will perform works by Carter, Grainger, Yurko and Erickson. The K-State University Bands — Purple Band and Silver Band — are conducted by junior and senior music education majors, who are coached by graduate students. Many of the ensemble members are music education majors performing on secondary instruments with the goal of preparing them to become better teachers. They will perform works by Balmages, Beck, Beethoven, Buckley, D'Alicandro, Grundman, Haydn, Saucedo and Vinson. 

The K-State Chamber Winds will be conducted by graduate conducting student Alex Wimmer.

The K-State Concert Band will be conducted by graduate conducting students Adam Ladd, Chris Johnson, Emily Roth and Wimmer.

The K-State University Bands will be conducted by undergraduate students Marissa Archuleta, Samantha Brown, Brett Eichman, Joe Kulick, Chris Miertschin, Jacob Miller, Rachel Palmberg, Xan Perkins and Elizabeth Roggenkamp.
