Fiction writer Julianna Baggott to read from her work on Friday
On Friday, April 4, author Julianna Baggott will read from her work at 3:30 p.m. in K-State Student Union Little Theatre.
Baggott is the author of 19 books, which appear under her own name as well as the pen names Bridget Asher and N.E. Bode. Most notably, she's the author of the "Pure" trilogy — "Pure," "Fuse" and "Burn," the national bestseller "Girl Talk" and three collections of poetry. She is an associate professor at Florida State University's College of Motion Picture Arts.
"Julianna Baggott writes young adult fantasy, children's books, traditional literary fiction, poetry and essays, and she does all of these things with grace and skill and intelligence," said Dan Hoyt, associate professor of English and director of the program in creative writing. "Like many writers, she creates and writes in so many different worlds. What's unusual is she does all of these things so well."
Hoyt continues, "Her young adult trilogy, 'Pure,' is spooky and thrilling. While many dystopian worlds are painted in bland shades of gray, Baggott's world is rich, eerie and constantly inventive."
Baggott's reading is sponsored by the English department and the Creative Writing Enthusiasts. A book-signing will follow the reading.
