Melinda Cro presented "Reinventing the Pastoral Landscape: The Function of Setting in Honoré d'Urfé's Astrée" on March 28 at the annual meeting of the Renaissance Society of America in New York, N.Y.
The paper focused on utopistic considerations and the importance of geography within the early modern pastoral novel. This paper is part of Cro's ongoing research into the importance of the pastoral mode in early modern Europe.
