Broadway percussionist, K-State graduate presents clinic
Broadway percussionist and K-State graduate Dave Roth will present a clinic at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in McCain Auditorium's Kirmser Hall. The event is free and open to the public. The clinic handout is available on the K-State Percussion Studio website.
On his website, Roth writes, "I am very excited about my new performance clinic that I developed this fall. I realized over the years that very few young artists are even aware that there is a whole career of playing going on on Broadway and various orchestra pits all over the world as musical theater continues to become more and more popular. My particular clinic not only show the various demands stylistically that we as percussionists are called to perform but also the many other demands placed on all instrumentalists playing in this genre. I also outline my process of preparing a percussion book from the moment I'm called with the gig to the first public performance."
While on campus, Roth also will address separate audiences in conjunction with his work for the Alzheimer's Association. Kansas State University will present the daylong workshop from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at the K-State Alumni Center. Admission is free. No registration is necessary.
