Maurice MacDonald receives top Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance award
Maurice MacDonald, director of the School of Family Studies and Human Services in the College of Human Ecology, received the 2014 Friend of Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance, or IDEA, for leadership in developing three Master of Science degree programs during the past five years.
Receiving the honor with him was Lawrence H. Ganong, University of Missouri. They were honored at the organization's recent annual meeting in Kansas City for guiding a new online program and inspiring faculty commitment to human ecology degrees of the Great Plains IDEA.
The three programs are youth development, family financial planning and family and community services.
K-State participates in seven of the eight Great Plains IDEA human sciences programs. There are 20 member institutions in Great Plains IDEA. Students enroll in one alliance university as a home institution. Students then take online courses from any of the universities in the alliance offering their program of study.
