Mathematics Colloquium lecture today
Andrew Carroll, University of Missouri, Columbia, will present "Modules of Constant Jordan Type for Associative Algebras" as part of the mathematics department Colloquium Lecture Series at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, today, in 122 Cardwell Hall.
The abstract for the lecture is: Motivated by work of Carlson, Friedlander and Pevtsova, I will introduce the notion of a module of constant Jordan type over an associative algebra. We will associate to any module a collection of coherent sheaves over a projective variety, which will turn out to be locally free if and only if the module under consideration has constant Jordan type. Finally, I will present a few realization theorems and describe some large classes of modules of constant Jordan type. This is joint work with Calin Chindris and Zongzhu Lin.
