Update mobile device and wireless settings after changing eID password
After changing your eID password (the fall deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 14), make sure to use your new password and immediately update the password settings in:
- your local email client
- your mobile device(s)
- KSU Wireless and/or KSU Housing wireless connections
The IT Help Desk has received reports of K-Staters being locked out of K-State Zimbra due to too many failed log-in attempts. This occurs when the eID password is changed in eProfile (https://eid.k-state.edu) but not in the K-Stater’s phone or local email client, such as Apple Mail or Thunderbird. The K-Stater’s phone or local email client will repeatedly attempt to fetch email but with the old password, resulting in a failed login.
Additionally, those who use the new KSU Wireless network or KSU Housing wireless connections will need to update their password in the appropriate settings.
Tip: If you use a Mac, you should also update your password in your keychain.
After Sept. 14, eIDs with unchanged passwords will lose access to K-State webmail, the iSIS student information system, K-State Online, limited-free printing, university computing labs and other ITS resources.
