Submitted by Dorinda J Lambert
Dorinda Lambert, director of the counseling services, introduces three new staff, Michael Dreiling, Rachel Lies and Clifford Rone, who are filling positions open because of recent retirements and transitions.
Dreiling joins counseling services' alcohol and other drug education services as the new project alcoholic beverage control trainer/assistant to the services coordinator. His work is focused on education and outreach programming. Dreiling received his Master of Arts degree in psychology in June 2014 from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington with his thesis "Efficacy of Neurofeedback for Insomnia in College Students." At the University of North Carolina he was the graduate assistant in their substance abuse prevention and education program as well as a graduate research assistant in the psychology department. His Bachelor of Science in psychology was earned from Campbell University in North Carolina in June 2011, where he also worked as a peer tutor and as the assistant to the Veterans Affairs School certifying official. Prior to 2010, Dreiling spent seven years in the U.S. Army, mainly stationed in Germany as a flight medic and trainer.
Lies joins counseling services as a full-time mental health clinician after having completed both of her degrees at K-State. In 2011 she finished her Master of Science in marriage and family therapy with her thesis "A Resilience-based Integrative Therapy Model for Rural Communities." In 2009, she completed her Bachelor of Science in family studies and human services with a certificate in conflict resolution. While in her master's program Lies worked at the Family Center and as a therapist/case manager at St. Francis Community Services in Wamego since 2011 as well as in a private practice office.
Rone is a clinical psychologist. He completed his postdoctoral year at the counseling and psychiatric services at the University of Georgia, Athens and a doctoral internship at the counseling and psychological services at the University of Houston in August 2013. Rone received his doctorate in clinical psychology from Idaho State University with his dissertation "Investigating a Relationship between Fear of Negative Evaluation, State Anxiety, and Person Perception." He also completed his Master of Science in psychology at Idaho State in 2010 and his Bachelor of Science in psychology at Texas Christian University in 2007.
We welcome them to the counseling services and our K-State community.
