Computing and information sciences professor receives National Science Foundation grant
Daniel Andresen, associate professor of computing and information sciences, has been awarded a $300,000, three-year National Science Foundation Major Research Instrumentation grant.
Andresen will serve as principal investigator on the project, "Acquisition of an adaptive data cluster for data-intensive applications in science and engineering." The adaptive multi-petabyte scalable storage cluster for high-end applications will service multiple research areas such as genomics, bioinformatics, computer security, digital ethnography, environmental modeling and computer science. It also will lay a foundation for big data classes and expanded research.
