University Climate Survey opens today

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,

At Kansas State University, we seek to create an environment characterized by openness, fairness and equal access for everyone. A welcoming and inclusive campus climate is grounded in mutual respect, nurtured by dialogue, evidenced by a pattern of civil interaction and is one of the foundations of our educational model. Creating and maintaining a university community that respects individual needs, abilities and potential is critically important.

As you may know, we are in the process of assessing how all members of our K-State family experience the current climate via a University Climate Survey. The goals of the project are multifold:

1. Identify successful initiatives;
2. Uncover any challenges facing members of our community;
3. Develop strategic initiatives to build on successes and address challenges; and
4. Establish a baseline for periodic follow-up surveys to measure changes in our climate resulting from actions taken.

We encourage you to take a few minutes to help us understand the current climate on our campuses. The survey is designed to provide information about both positive and challenging aspects of our climate and is your opportunity to describe your personal experiences, to provide your observations, and to offer suggestions for change that might enhance the climate at K-State. 

You may be assured that all of your answers will remain confidential. The results will be reported in group form only, and you will not be identifiable as an individual. Also, please note that your participation in this project is voluntary. This research has been reviewed and approved by the Kansas State University Institutional Review Board.

Beginning today, we encourage you to take the 20-30 minutes needed to answer the questions by going to https://rankinsurveys1.com/k-state. For those of you unable to access the online version, paper copies of the survey are available at 108 and 109 Dykstra Hall, 202 Holton Hall, the 2nd floor entrance to Hale Library or upon request. Survey results will be available to the university in spring 2015. Additional information about the project is available at k-state.edu/climatesurvey.
